The ZotaBet “app”, honestly

No App Store listing, no Google Play download — an icon that opens the website. That is the whole product, and the operator says so itself.

In one paragraph

There is no native ZotaBet app. The operator's own App Instruction page, served on its Canadian site, gives two sets of steps: on iOS, open the site in Safari, tap Share and choose Add to Home Screen; on Android, open it in Chrome, tap the three dots and choose Install app. That produces a progressive web app — a home-screen icon that launches the same site without browser chrome. Some Canadian review pages describe a "dedicated app for iPhone and Android"; the operator's own page contradicts them. Anything you find in an app store under a similar name was published by somebody else.

What the operator actually tells you to do

ZotaBet publishes its instructions in nine steps or fewer, and they are worth quoting because they settle the question:

iOS, in Safari

  1. Open ZotaBet in the Safari browser on your iOS device.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.

Android, in Chrome

  1. Open ZotaBet in the Chrome browser on your Android device.
  2. Tap the three dots at the top right.
  3. Tap Install app, then Install.

Nothing in those steps involves an app store, a developer account, an APK file or a review process. They are the standard way to install a progressive web app (PWA), and they are the same steps you would use for a news site or a webmail client.

What a home-screen install actually gives you

A PWA is not a lesser product by definition — for a casino it is arguably the sensible one — but it is worth knowing what changes and what does not.

Installed web app versus a store-downloaded app
How it installsFrom the browser, in seconds, with no store account. A native app downloads a package through Google Play or the App Store.
StorageAlmost nothing — a shortcut and a small cache. Native casino apps are typically tens or hundreds of megabytes.
UpdatesAlways current: it loads the live site each time. A native app needs patches.
What it can doEverything the website can: games, cashier, live chat, sportsbook. It is the same site.
What it cannot doNo store review, no store refunds, no biometric login integration beyond what the browser offers, and push notifications are limited on iOS.
Data useIdentical to browsing, because it is browsing. Slots stream art on every load; a long session on cellular data adds up.
PrivacyThe icon sits on your home screen. If sharing a device matters to you, that visibility is the trade-off.

Why store listings under that name are not ZotaBet

An open padlock among scattered keyboard keys

Both major stores restrict real-money gambling apps to operators licensed in the jurisdiction where the app is distributed. In Canada that effectively means provincially registered products — the OLG, Loto-Québec, BCLC and Play Alberta apps, plus the AGCO-registered commercial operators in Ontario and, since 13 July 2026, the licensed operators in Alberta. An offshore Curaçao-licensed casino does not qualify, which is exactly why ZotaBet ships a PWA instead.

So if you search a store and find something with a similar name, assume it is unrelated: a social-casino clone, a "guide" app, or worse. The same applies to APK files offered on third-party sites. Sideloading an APK from an unofficial source is the single riskiest thing a player can do with their phone — you are granting an unreviewed package the ability to read notifications, capture screens and, in the worst cases, intercept the SMS codes that protect your bank. If a page promises a "ZotaBet APK", the operator's own instructions are the counter-evidence: it does not publish one.

Making the installed site behave

A short setup that saves grief later

  1. Install from the operator's own domain, typed by hand, not from a link in an email or an ad. A PWA installs whatever site you were on — including a lookalike.
  2. Finish verification early, on a device where your documents are already stored. Uploads during a payout are what turns a "fast withdrawal" into a slow one.
  3. Turn on the browser's own protections — a device passcode, and a password manager rather than a saved-in-page password.
  4. Set deposit limits before you play, not after. On an offshore site there is no Canadian self-exclusion register standing behind you.
  5. Use Wi-Fi for long sessions. Live tables in particular are video streams.

The claim we had to correct

Writing this page meant choosing between two sources that cannot both be right. A Canadian review site states that ZotaBet offers a "dedicated app for iPhone and Android handsets"; ZotaBet's own App Instruction page describes a home-screen install and nothing else, and an international bookmaker review states plainly that the operator "does not currently offer dedicated mobile applications for Android or iOS devices". Where a third party and the operator's own documentation disagree about the operator's own product, the documentation wins. We flag this because it is a small, checkable example of how affiliate copy drifts — and the same drift affects the bonus figures and, on at least one site, the claim that ZotaBet has no sportsbook at all.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a ZotaBet app on the App Store or Google Play?

No. ZotaBet's own App Instruction page tells players to add the site to the home screen from Safari, or install it from Chrome's three-dot menu. Both stores restrict real-money gambling apps to locally licensed operators, and ZotaBet holds no Canadian licence.

Is a progressive web app safe to install?

Installing from the operator's own domain is as safe as visiting the site, because it is the site. The risk is installing from a lookalike domain or sideloading an APK from a third-party page — an unreviewed package can read notifications and intercept SMS codes.

Does the installed site have all the games?

Yes. It loads the same website, so the casino, live tables, cashier, support chat and the bet.zotabet.com sportsbook are all present. Nothing is held back for a native app, because there is no native app.

Will it use a lot of mobile data?

About the same as browsing the site, which for slot art and live-dealer video is not trivial. Long sessions are better on Wi-Fi.

How do I remove it?

Delete the home-screen icon the way you would any app. On Android you may also clear the site's data from Chrome's settings; on iOS, clearing Safari's website data for that domain removes what remains.
