The ZotaBet sportsbook, and the rules behind it

Real markets on a separate subdomain, a €1,000,000 VIP bet — and house rules stricter than most Canadians expect.

In one paragraph

ZotaBet's sportsbook lives at bet.zotabet.com: in-play betting, esports, a schedule, results, a statistics centre and VIP Bets. It is real and reasonably broad — one Canadian review page claiming ZotaBet has "no sportsbook" is simply wrong. What deserves your attention is the rulebook: every deposit must be wagered 3× before a withdrawal, a bet may hold at most 50 selections at total odds no higher than 1000, you have two days to dispute a settlement, and investigations can run 180 days. None of this is illegal or unusual offshore — but none of it is what an AGCO-registered Ontario book would be allowed to do quietly.

What you can actually bet on

The sportsbook is a separate product on its own subdomain, sharing your account and wallet with the casino. Its navigation is straightforward: In-Play, Esports, Promo, Schedule, Results, a Statistics Center and VIP Bets, with a European (decimal) odds format selected by default — the format Canadians will recognise from provincial books.

Archived captures of the front page show the ordinary breadth you would expect: club friendlies, a Norwegian under-20 women's cup tie, ITF tennis from France, and "Cyber Basketball — 2K24 matches" sitting in the same list as real fixtures. Esports is not decoration either; the book has run outright and match markets on Valorant and Mobile Legends tournaments, including the Esports World Cup qualifiers. There is even a dedicated landing page for 100-Ball Cricket. For Canadian bettors the important part is the North American coverage, and the sportsbook rules spell it out: American football markets cover the NFL, NCAA college football, the CFL, the UFL and Arena football, with pre-game game lines including overtime unless stated otherwise.

VIP Bets: the €1,000,000 ticket

An empty indoor rink seen from centre ice

Every sportsbook caps the stake it will accept on a given market. ZotaBet's answer is a feature it calls VIP Bets, and its own page is unusually clear about how it works. You place a bet larger than the displayed maximum; the money is frozen rather than accepted; the risk-management team reviews it within 15 minutes; if they decline, the stake is returned immediately. The page advertises stakes of up to €1,000,000 "at any events: from Soccer to Handball and other sports including Live events", and says the feature is open to everyone, not just VIP-tier accounts. The Canadian promotions strip advertises the same feature as "Place bets up to 1,500,000 C$", which is roughly the same ceiling in another currency.

Two conditions sit in the small print and both are worth reading twice: odds may change until the bet is officially accepted, and all VIP bets must be confirmed within a 15-minute window or they are cancelled automatically. In other words the price you see is an offer, not a contract, until the desk says yes.

The rules that decide whether a winning ticket pays

The sportsbook terms are long. These are the clauses that change outcomes for an ordinary bettor, in the operator's own words or close to them.

  • Rule 2.2 After a deposit you must place bets three times the deposit amount before withdrawing funds connected to it. Only settled bets count — voided and refunded bets do not. Refuse, and the book "reserves the right to refuse withdrawal".
  • Rule 2.34 The maximum odds on a multiple are 1000, no matter how many selections you combine.
  • Rule 2.35 A bet may contain at most 50 events.
  • Rule 2.4 A ticket accepted after an event has started can be voided and settled at odds of 1.
  • Rule 2.11 A bet placed once the outcome is effectively known — a red card, a score change — can be voided on both winning and losing sides.
  • Rule 2.19 You have two days from settlement to dispute how a bet was graded. After that, claims are not accepted.
  • Rule 2.20 If integrity is questioned, payment can be suspended for up to 180 days, and the book is not obliged to show you evidence.
  • Rule 2.6 Stake limits are set per event and per market and can be imposed or removed on individual accounts "without notice or explanation".
  • Rule 3.0 Settlement follows official statistics, but where they conflict with the television broadcast, the broadcast can decide.

The one that catches Canadians most often is the first. A sportsbook deposit is not a wallet you can top up and take back: until you have turned it over three times in settled bets, the money is not free to leave. Combine that with the casino-side ceilings — 1,000 €/$ a day, 2,500 a week, 15,000 a month — and a good weekend on the NHL can take a fortnight to reach your bank.

How this compares with a legal Ontario or Alberta book

Since April 2022, an Ontarian can bet with operators that hold an AGCO registration and an iGaming Ontario agreement; since 13 July 2026, Albertans have a comparable regulated market under the iGaming Alberta Act. Those books answer to a provincial regulator, must offer specified responsible-gambling tools, and are covered by an independent dispute-resolution route. ZotaBet is in neither register — we checked iGO's directory, current to 1 September 2026 with 49 operators and 84 sites, and there is no ZotaBet entry.

That does not make ZotaBet's sportsbook a scam, and it does not make you an offender for using it. It means the referee is Curaçao. If a settlement dispute goes badly, the escalation path is the operator's support desk and then the Curaçao Gaming Authority — a longer, slower road than a complaint to AGCO, and one where the two-day dispute window in rule 2.19 matters a great deal.

Before you place the first bet

A five-minute checklist

  1. Screenshot the odds and the bet slip. Rule 2.15 and rule 3.0 both allow re-grading from sources you cannot see.
  2. Assume the 3× deposit turnover applies before you deposit, not after.
  3. Check the market maximum before you build a large multiple — the 1000 odds ceiling silently truncates long accumulators.
  4. Finish verification before you have a balance worth withdrawing; documents can take up to 30 days, and a video call may be required.
  5. Diarise the two-day dispute window. It starts when the bet is settled, not when you notice.

Frequently asked questions

Does ZotaBet really have a sportsbook?

Yes. It runs at bet.zotabet.com with in-play betting, esports, a schedule, results, a statistics centre and VIP Bets, and it has its own published sportsbook terms. At least one Canadian review page states the opposite; the operator's own pages settle it.

What is a VIP Bet at ZotaBet?

A stake placed above the displayed market maximum. The money is frozen, the risk desk reviews the bet within 15 minutes and returns the stake if it declines. The operator's VIP Bets page advertises up to €1,000,000 and says the feature is open to all accounts; the Canadian promotions strip quotes C$1,500,000.

Can I withdraw a sportsbook deposit I have not bet?

Not freely. Sportsbook rule 2.2 requires every deposit to be wagered three times in settled bets before funds connected to it can be withdrawn, and the casino terms repeat the same 3x requirement. Cancelled and refunded bets do not count toward it.

How long do I have to dispute a settlement?

Two days from the moment the bet is settled, per rule 2.19. Integrity-related investigations, by contrast, can suspend payment for up to 180 days.

Is betting with ZotaBet legal in Ontario?

ZotaBet is not registered with the AGCO and is not in the iGaming Ontario operator directory, so it is not a legal Ontario operator. Ontarians face no criminal liability for placing bets there, but they lose the provincial dispute and responsible-gambling framework that registered books must provide.
